Swinney Comments on Injured Wideout

One of Clemson’s wide receivers is still trying to make his return to game action.

Backup wide receiver Gordon Sellars III was out for Saturday’s 18-13 win at Syracuse, marking his third straight missed game.

After missing the Virginia Tech and Florida State games with a concussion, Sellars returned to practice this past week. However, the freshman suffered a setback during practice, causing him to be sidelined once again for the Syracuse game.

During his postgame press conference after the win over Syracuse, Swinney commented on Sellars’ injury.

“Gordo was back [at practice],” Swinney said. “He jumps up, catches a ball in RVA – routes [vs.] air – and re-tweaks an injury. He’s out.”

Swinney did not say whether Sellars might be able to return for next Saturday’s game vs. Georgia Tech at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium (12:30 p.m., The CW).

Sellars logged 63 snaps over the first six games, catching three passes for eight yards.

The 6-foot-3 receiver was a consensus four-star prospect and top-225 recruit coming out of Providence Day School in Charlotte, N.C., signing with Clemson as a member of the 2026 recruiting class. Sellars was ranked as high as the 26th-best receiver in the country by 247Sports.
