Over the next few weeks, the Clemson coaching staff will be on the road recruiting.
With the current contact period running through May 23, a lot of miles will be racked up between now and then.
Some of the early stops went to players already committed and other priority 2027 targets.
About two weeks ago, running backs coach C.J. Spiller was in to see four-star Gary Walker (Creekside, GA), who represents one of Clemson’s top two running back targets. Spiller did an in-home visit with Walker.
The blue-chip back made his first visit to campus for the Elite Retreat in early March, picking up an offer in the process. He returned for a second visit in late March, sitting in on some team meetings and taking in a spring practice.
“It was amazing, I am blessed for sure,” Walker recently told TCI. “Clemson is high for me.”
Walker is scheduled to attend the big official visit weekend, May 29-31. Stanford (May 22), Virginia Tech (June 5), Penn State (June 12) and Florida State (June 19) are also set to get officials.
As a junior, Walker rushed for 1,669 yards with 20 touchdowns. He averaged 9.4 yards per carry and 119.2 yards per game. He rushed for more than 100 yards in nine of his 14 games.
Rivals ranks Walker No. 130 overall, No. 8 among all running backs in the class and No. 12 in the state of Georgia.
Spiller was also at the high school of four-star Andrew Beard recently. Beard is the other top target at the position and is also scheduled to be at the official visit weekend. Spiller has not done an in-home with Beard yet, but that is expected to take place in the near future.
