Clemson has been smoking hot on the recruiting trail over the past few weeks.
The Tigers’ 2027 recruiting class now features 22 verbal pledges and ranks inside the Top 10 nationally per 247Sports. 16 of those commitments have come since May 18, when four-star Jarrell Chandler announced for Clemson, setting off a streak of recruiting wins unlike anything seen in these parts in recent years.
Many of those pledges came before the Tigers held the big official visit weekend just over a week ago, with several more coming after the conclusion of that event. The result is the 2027 class being all but done.
However, all but done doesn’t equate to being complete, and a second smaller official visit gathering is on tap for the coming weekend. With Clemson already having three defensive ends committed in the class, the Tigers are done there. That means four-star edge Kalib Spivey and three-star Andrew Rogers will no longer attend.
Three-star LB Tyson Washington is no longer on the guest list either, with the staff handing out a new offer at the position over the weekend. Three-star RJ Hudson announced the offer on Saturday after working out at camp last week, and he is now on the docket, having set a commitment date of June 19.
With four-star target Sean Fox trending heavily towards Kentucky and four-star target Roman Igwebuike seemingly not ready to make a decision, the staff decided the linebacker board needed to expand. The Tigers already hold commitments from four-star Bryce Kish and three-star Max Brown, and are planning to add just one more to the class.
The biggest remaining need in the class is another defensive tackle. Three-star in-state prospect Jaden Wuerth committed back in the spring, but there is a need for one more. Four-star prospects Seth Tillman and Segun Alexander will both be on hand this weekend. Alexander recently reclassified from the 2028 class.
Of the two, Clemson probably has a better shot at landing Tillman. He is currently scheduled to announce on July 11. Tillman has taken officials to South Carolina, Georgia and Michigan, so the Tigers are getting the final one. The Dawgs are probably the biggest competition. Clemson just beat out Kirby Smart’s program for four-star OL JJ Brown. Can they do it again?
