Clemson Recruiting Class Close to Being Done

The last two months on the recruiting trail have been action-packed for Clemson fans.

When four-star safety Jarrell Chandler picked the Tigers over Tennessee and Miami on May 18, that kicked off a string of momentum that saw Clemson add 17 verbal pledges from then until now. Dabo Swinney is currently sitting in a great spot, with most of the class locked up before the end of the summer. The 24-member class currently ranks in the Top 15 nationally, with 247 slotting it 12th.

Several former targets have or still are listing Clemson as a finalist, including three-star DE Elijah Cox, who announces a decision on Sunday. However, there are only two recruits the Tigers are still genuinely waiting on, and Cox isn’t one. He will be heading elsewhere.

One of those two is four-star in-state DT Seth Tillman, who was the first interior lineman in the 2027 class to pick up an offer from Clemson. He is set to announce on July 11, with Georgia and Michigan as the other two finalists. The Dawgs already have three DTs committed in the 2027 class at this point, with two of those coming after Tillman took his Clemson official, June 12-14.

Three-star Jaden Wuerth is currently the only DT committed to Clemson, and landing Tillman would give the Tigers two legit, high-ceiling recruits to build around. The in-state prospect would very likely be the final take at the position, barring a change.

The staff is also still waiting on a verdict from four-star safety Seth Williams. The defensive back out of Georgia originally committed to Clemson back in March, but decommitted a day later after realizing he’d made the decision too quickly. However, the decommitment didn’t become public for a couple of weeks.

Williams blew up after picking up that spring offer from Clemson, with numerous Power-4 programs offering after that point. He now has more than 40 offers in total, and has trimmed his list down to just two, with the Tigers and the Dawgs being the final two schools standing.

Williams gave both of those programs official visits and was planning to reveal a decision on Friday, but a week ago, he announced he was postponing, and no new date has been set. He did tell TCI he was hoping to have one by the end of July, but even that isn’t set in stone.

As of now, those are the only two uncommitted targets still on the board. A big part of the focus now shifts towards the staff having to keep the guys they currently have in the fold until signing day, which, no doubt, becomes more challenging each passing cycle.
