Clemson junior running back David Eziomume took to social media with an optimistic message after suffering a serious injury in Friday night’s game at Cal.

The injury occurred during the first quarter of Clemson’s eventual 24-10 victory. While Eziomume was blocking on a special teams kickoff return, a Cal player fell sideways into his lower left leg.

The cart was brought out, and the whole Clemson team came off the bench over to Eziomume, showing him support as he left the field on the cart. His leg was placed in an air cast before he was taken off.

Early Saturday morning, Eziomume posted to his X account expressing gratitude and determination.

“Lord I thank you , for you are an amazing God. I never question your works for I know it all has meaning. I love yall and I’ll be back soon ❤️💯” Eziomume wrote.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said postgame that the training staff felt the injury “didn’t look good” and that it appears similar to the season-ending lower-leg injury that defensive tackle Markus Strong suffered in the season opener at LSU.

Eziomume scored an 11-yard touchdown on his lone carry of the season late in the LSU game.

The Acworth, Ga., native from North Cobb High School entered the 2026 season having rushed 26 times for 133 yards in 100 career offensive snaps over 14 games from 2024-25.
