Commitment Watch: 4-Star Target On Clock

Decision day is rapidly approaching for one of Clemson’s top safety targets.

Four-star safety Marquis Bryant (Rolesville, NC) is set to announce a commitment on Tuesday.

Clemson, Rutgers, Nebraska, Texas A&M, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida State, Notre Dame, NC State, Ohio State and Indiana all made his Top 12 recently after the Tigers, Fighting Irish, Volunteers, Bulldogs, Seminoles and Tar Heels were the finalists he originally named back in August.

Bryant picked up an offer from Clemson back in June after working out at camp, then returned to campus for the season-opener against LSU.

As a senior, Bryant picked off six passes, had three passes defended and forced a fumble. The Rivals Industry Rankings slots the 6-foot defensive back No. 169 overall, No. 17 among all safeties in the class and No. 8 in the state of North Carolina.

While the Tigers have been in on Bryant since before the start of his sophomore season, this one is shaping up to be one of those many examples of a recruit calling Clemson his “dream school,” yet still heading elsewhere.

“Clemson has been my dream school since I was young,” Bryant told TCI early in his recruitment. “So being able to play Clemson football would be a dream come true.”

With Clemson’s coaching staff expected to get a makeover at some point in the near future, and safeties coach Mickey Conn being one assistant whose future with the program is in question, Bryant isn’t likely to choose the Tigers.
