5-Star Target Leaves Clemson Out of Top 5

As expected, Clemson didn’t make the cut for this high-profile recruiting target in the class of 2027.

Hough (N.C.) five-star cornerback Josh Dobson left Clemson out of the top five schools list he announced Tuesday. His final group includes LSU, South Carolina, Michigan, Auburn and Texas A&M.

The Clemson Insider recently reported that Dobson was continuing to trend away from Clemson, as he locked in dates for several official visits, and it didn’t look like Clemson would get one. He is set to officially visit Auburn (May 29-31), Texas A&M (June 5-7), LSU (June 12-14) and South Carolina (June 19-21).

Dobson was the first 2027 recruit to go public with an offer from Clemson, when he announced the offer on June 1 of last year. He ranks No. 11 overall in the 247 Composite rankings and No. 3 among all corners in the class.

Clemson made his first top schools list last fall, and he was on hand for the season-opener against LSU before returning for the Elite Retreat in March.

Dobson began his high school career at Catawba Ridge in Fort Mill, but will play his senior season at William Amos Hough in North Carolina.
