For the second consecutive week, Vic Burley’s name was noticeably absent from the weekly depth chart Clemson puts out.

That news seemed to come as a surprise to Dabo Swinney.

“Vic’s not on the depth chart?” the head coach responded.

While Burley’s name has yet to be added back to that depth chart after his return from a suspension, it appears that has just been an oversight.

“Yeah, he’s on the depth chart. He is somewhere in there,” Swinney added. “I have no idea what is out, but he is on the depth chart.”

On Saturday, Aug. 22, Burley was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. He was released the following day, and after the arrest, Swinney announced Burley was suspended indefinitely. Four weeks ago, Burley pleaded guilty to public disorderly conduct and was granted a conditional discharge by Judge Lindsey Simmons. Burley made a public apology following the arrest.

The senior defensive lineman was recently reinstated from that indefinite suspension following the arrest, and his nine snaps in the comeback win over North Carolina were his first of the season.

“He played some, and obviously you could tell he had not had a lot of live football practice in a while. He just has to work his way back to be able to play more snaps, and when he plays, play them better. Practice and habits. Playing with the type of execution that we need.”

With this being his fourth season in the program, Burley was expected to take on a much larger role this season. However, he missed a significant amount of time during fall camp, even before the arrest.

Over his first three seasons, Burley is credited with 24 tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss and a pass breakup, having logged 267 snaps over 21 games.
