A former Clemson star had a monster game on Sunday in Week 4 of the NFL season, before suffering an injury.
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins had a huge performance, racking up 11 receptions for 157 yards in the Bengals’ 22-17 home loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Unfortunately, Higgins was injured while making a sideline grab in the fourth quarter. After the game, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor confirmed that Higgins suffered an adductor injury.
Higgins tried to return later, but was unable to play through the injury. The severity is not yet known.
“Tee just wants to try to help us win,” Taylor said of Higgins trying to give it a go after the injury. “He knew the situation we were in. He just couldn’t do it. He went out there to run one basic, and I could tell he didn’t – I mean, all eyes were on him when he was running the route. He couldn’t do it. But that’s just who he is.
“We played the Chiefs a couple years ago. He pulled his hamstring. He goes back in the game. Like, Tee’s just gonna fight for ya, and he saw the bind we were in and he was trying to help us.”
Higgins’ big-time performance Sunday came one week after he finished last week’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with six receptions for 90 yards and his first touchdown of the season. He has been heavily involved in the Bengals’ passing attack to begin the 2026 campaign, as he has recorded 25 receptions for 401 yards in four games.
Higgins is coming off a 2025 season where he earned his first career Pro Bowl selection. In 15 games last year, he registered 59 receptions for 846 yards, and he tied for second in the NFL with a career-high 11 touchdown receptions despite missing a couple of games due to concussions.
Higgins is now in his seventh NFL season after being selected by the Bengals in the second round (33rd overall pick) of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Cincinnati fell to 2-2 this season ahead of a road matchup against the Miami Dolphins next Sunday in Week 5. On the other side of the Bengals-Jaguars matchup, Trevor Lawrence passed for 227 yards and a touchdown, helping Jacksonville improve to 3-1.
