What They’re Saying: Clemson’s Win over FSU

Clemson bounced back from a tough home loss to Virginia Tech with a 36-24 victory over Florida State on Saturday night at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Fla.

Clemson freshman quarterback Tait Reynolds finished the game with 189 passing yards and two touchdowns on 18 of 32 passing. He also ran for 85 yards on 14 carries and a touchdown. After Florida State cut a 19-point Tigers’ lead to five points, Reynolds raced 79 yards for a TD on third-and-12 with 3:17 left to seal the victory.

Meanwhile, Clemson’s defense forced a season-high four turnovers, including a pair of interceptions by Elliot Washington II, and the unit tallied nine tackles for loss and four sacks.

With the victory, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney tied Florida State legend Bobby Bowden’s conference record for career wins in ACC regular season play (117 each). Two years ago in the same location, Swinney passed Bowden for the ACC record for overall career wins as an ACC head coach.

Clemson became only the third program ever to win five consecutive road games against Florida State in Tallahassee, joining Florida (six straight from 1966-76) and Miami (five from 1957-77).

Florida State fell to 3-5 overall on the season, including 1-4 in ACC play. Following a third straight defeat, the Seminoles fired head coach Mike Norvell.
