Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney is optimistic about his team’s injury situation ahead of Saturday’s game against No. 4 Miami.
On Wednesday evening, during his final media availability before the Tigers take on the Hurricanes, Swinney was asked how he feels about the general health of his team and if he believes the Tigers will be closer to full strength against Miami.
“I think the guys have done a good job, and we’ve gotten a little bit better each and every day,” Swinney said. “So, we’re trending in a good direction.”
While Swinney indicated that his team is moving closer to full health, the Tigers are dealing with injuries on both sides of the ball heading into the Miami game.
Among the injuries the Tigers have been navigating is starting nickelback Corian Gipson. He returned to practice this week after missing last Friday’s game at Cal. The good news is Gipson was not on the Tigers’ initial injury report for the Miami game, and neither was co-starting defensive tackle Devarrick Woods, who also missed the Cal game. Woods had been labeled by Swinney on Tuesday as day-to-day, along with starting left guard Elyjah Thurmon, who got injured in the Cal game. Thurmon was listed as questionable on the initial availability report.
Senior backup quarterback Christopher Vizzina is still not at 100% as he continues to recover from his left elbow injury, leaving fifth-year man Trent Pearman to serve as the No. 2 QB behind true freshman starter Tait Reynolds for the Miami game. Reserve running back David Eziomume is out for the rest of the 2026 season after suffering a serious injury on special teams in last Friday’s game at Cal.
Saturday’s game vs. Miami at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium is set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. and will be televised on ABC.
